Ms. Kuo: Jobs which may be available include: Food & Beverage Cashier, Store Cashier, Food & Beverage Host/Hostess, Ticket Taker, and Lifeguard. Troop 698: Are the opportunities similar for a Student in College? If not, what levels would a college student qualify? Ms. Kuo: Yes, but after a student turns 18, the number and variety of opportunities increase. As someone gains additional College experience, they may also qualify for internships. Troop 698: What types of higher level positions are available within Disneyland Park? Do they require degrees or can an employee be promoted into those positions? Ms. Kuo: Front Line operating Cast Members can become trainers and working leads (like shift leaders.) These hourly roles do not require degrees. Entry level management positions may or may not require additional education depending on the job requirements. It varies by role - www.DisneyCareers.com is the Walt Disney Company job posting board and will have the job requirements for any available positions. Troop 698: Is it possible for and entry level employee to accomplish a higher level position without completing school? Ms. Kuo: Yes, depending on the area. Troop 698: Does Disneyland offer incentives to people who go to school to take classes related to their position? Ms. Kuo: We have an Educational Reimbursement program for classes related to the job. Approval is generally required before starting the class to receive reimbursement. Troop 698: Is the pay different for someone who has a degree as opposed to someone with actual work experience and no degree? Ms. Kuo: For Front-line operating roles, the pay is generally dictated by a contract rate schedule. For salaried roles, pay is determined using several factors including one's individual performance. Troop 698: How strict are your "people skills" etiquette rules for your employees that are dealing with the public on a daily basis? And how are these rules different from when Mr. Disney was around? Ms. Kuo: The Four Keys (Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency) are the foundation of the requirements for how we deal with our Guests and fellow Cast Members. The Four Keys were established when Walt was at Disneyland. Troop 698: What advice do you have for future Disney employees? Ms. Kuo: Look for opportunities to learn and practice exceptional Guest Service skills, strong communication skills and team work skills. |
