Troop 698 Silver Award Project:
Plan and carry out day event*, badge or
try-it workshops, and or camporees for
younger girls
(Page 16, Silver Award Guide RR 10/05)
Troop 698 is planning and carrying out a group
money-earning event* within Girl Scouts.  Girl
Scouts will be charged a flat rate to reserve the
park for Girl Scouts and their Families - which will
be deposited into Troop 698's authorized group
treasury.  Troop 698 will increase the cost
approximately $10.00 per ticket (increase amount is
based on the fact that the participation rate fulfils
the minimum occupancy requirement) in order to
cover entry  to the park for all participants and any
admin costs related to the distribution of flyers,
registration forms, production of event badges,
    maintenance of website, long distance
    communication, any other unforeseen expense,
and/or actual implementation on the day of the
event.  Any remaining funds, still in our group
treasury, related to this event will be used to
purchase food, after  polling different resources, in
order to be more efficient in pin-pointing more
specific needs and distribute it throughout the State
of California as a means of battling hunger. Based
on the fact that Girl Scouts are encouraged to bring
their families, this may be a way to show other girls
the positive power and "sisterly" bond the Girl
Scouts of America represent.  Another benefit will
be that food will be distributed throughout the
different California Girl Scout Council areas, hitting
a wider demographic in the battle against hunger.
Troop 698 has made plans to utilize an outside
resource for delivering the food to the different
    areas.
"The project could be done in or outside of
Girl Scouting and must reflect some aspect of
community service.  If the project is done
within Girl Scouting, you must reach out to
the community in some way--for example, by
calling on people outside Girl Scouts as
resources, doing something that reaches girls
who aren't Girl Scouts, or affecting something
that is used by people other than Girl Scouts."
